Counsellor Profile
I’m Sarah, and I am a here to offer you a warm, supportive space to explore your inner world. I’m someone who naturally prefers honesty and depth over small talk in everyday life, and I bring this presence into the therapy room by offering my full attention, empathy and genuine curiosity. I have always had an active interest in psychology, and have been curious about human behaviour and relationships. This interest has followed me throughout my own life and career. My role in the corporate world has involved meeting a wide range of people, coaching and nurturing teams and understanding what others need to thrive. I realised that these very “human” elements of the job were the most enjoyable, natural and rewarding for me. This realisation led me to begin training in counselling, a career path that enables me to support those who are struggling in a more intentional deeper way. My own life experiences have also shown me the value of counselling. Moving through many seasons in life, becoming a mother, experiencing loss, navigating tricky relationships led me to explore counselling personally. Through this, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful it can be to have a safe, confidential space to express feelings and make sense of experiences. I believe this is where true growth, healing and positive change can begin. Outside of work I’m often out and about with my young family. I am passionate about music, love finding new exciting places to eat, and value cosy nights in. When clients meet with me I hope they feel calm, heard and supported, and in their own time, able to feel hopeful.
I have an integrative approach, largely combining person centred and psychodynamic ways of working. This means I value the whole person, where they are meeting me the present, but also bringing in a deeper understanding of their history. I believe a greater understanding of our past experiences can inform present challenges, and in turn this can change the course of our future and who we become. I also integrate a whole person approach to therapy, looking at the way the body is coping with anxiety or stress, and exploring, at my client’s pace, how these physical responses connect to thoughts, emotions and experiences. The relationship is key in my work, building trust and building this relationship of trust, at the client’s pace, is something I will place at the centre of all I do.
My personal interest in the mind body connection deepened when I became a mother. Experiencing first hand such profound change in my body, and understanding how my thoughts and emotions influenced the whole experience of pregnancy and childbirth was truly life changing. Through my own learning and experiences since then, I’ve personally felt the benefits of breathwork, movement and other somatic approaches. I believe we are connected beings, even within ourselves, and so nurturing and acknowledging this connection feels so important when looking at our wellbeing. In the room with clients, and always guided and at their own pace, I bring an awareness of the mind body connection to the therapeutic space where appropriate.
Sessions are collaborative, safe, and paced to your needs. There is no pressure to have everything figured out or to talk before you’re ready. My goal is to offer a space where you feel heard, supported, and accepted, and where we can explore what matters most to you.
