Trainee Counsellor Profile
My journey into counselling grew out of my own life experiences and a long-standing interest in people and what shapes us. I have always been someone others open up to, and over time I realised how powerful it can be when someone feels genuinely heard and not judged. I have seen first-hand the impact that emotional struggles can have on people and families, and how much difference the right support at the right time can make. Becoming a counsellor feels like a natural extension of who I am and what I care about deeply — supporting others to make sense of their experiences and feel less alone with what they are carrying. As a person, I am warm, reflective, and genuinely curious about people. I try to be open, grounded, and real, rather than hiding behind a “professional mask.” As a therapist in training, I am thoughtful about our sessions and committed to learning from each client and each experience. I care deeply about doing this work ethically and with integrity and always reflect on my own responses so that I can show up fully and safely for my clients. I want my clients to feel safe, accepted, and not judged, and I hope they feel that they don’t have to impress me, explain themselves perfectly, or have everything figured out. I would like them to feel relaxed, that they are being taken seriously, and that they matter in that space. Ideally, I want people to leave feeling that they have been genuinely heard and that they do not have to face things on their own anymore.
I believe our emotional wellbeing and physical experiences are closely connected, and this shapes how I work with clients. Working in a person-centred and humanistic way, I see you as a whole person and not a problem to be fixed. I am interested in your thoughts, emotions, feelings, and what is happening in your body too in a safe and confidential space. Together, we will gently discover how your mind and body influence each other, and how paying attention to both can support real, meaningful change. I trust that you will grow and heal, and my role is to offer a supportive, respectful space where that can happen at your pace. By working in this joined-up way, we can build understanding and strategies that support your overall wellbeing in a way that feels lasting and true to you.
I believe that what we experience emotionally is closely linked to how we feel in our bodies. Stress, anxiety, and past experiences do not just affect our thoughts, they can also show up physically, often before we fully understand what is going on. In counselling, I notice both what someone is saying and what their body might be communicating through sensations like tension, restlessness, or heaviness. These responses can offer valuable clues about what feels difficult or needs attention. By gently bringing awareness to both mind and body, clients can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and begin to respond with more compassion and care, which I see as an important part of the healing process.
Sessions are collaborative, safe, and paced to your needs. There is no pressure to have everything figured out or to talk before you’re ready. My goal is to offer a space where you feel heard, supported, and accepted, and where we can explore what matters most to you.
