Trainee Counsellor Profile
I understand only too well that our emotions and feelings can sometimes feel overwhelming, and that life can make us feel unsafe or alone in our experiences. I have seen firsthand the transformative power of being truly held and understood by another person, and the way this connection can create space for real change, growth, and healing. I have always wanted to give back and be in service to my community, supporting people through difficult times. The power of this human connection - of feeling genuinely seen and heard - is at the heart of why I became a counsellor in training. People come to therapy for many reasons. Some may be living with anxiety, stress, or low mood, while others carry experiences of loss, grief, or a sense of emotional disconnection. Often, these experiences are held quietly, without having had space to be fully heard or understood. As a counsellor in training, I offer a warm, calming, and accepting space where you can slow down and feel genuinely met. My approach is collaborative - we work together at a pace that feels manageable for you. You don’t need to have all the answers or the right words; we can begin wherever you are. I see therapy as a place to be fully heard, sometimes for the first time. All parts of you are welcome here, including those that feel sad, lonely, anxious, angry, or exhausted from carrying life’s burdens alone. I’m mindful of the ways we protect ourselves, including the masks we wear to cope, and the parts we may feel too ashamed to show. I aim to provide a space where there is no pressure to perform or “have it all together.” I hope clients experience me as approachable, grounding, and easy to talk to. My intention is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you with curiosity, warmth, and compassion. Together, we explore your experiences, make sense of what you’re holding, and gently support you in reconnecting with your authentic self in a way that feels safe and respectful. If you’re looking for a supportive space to be heard, understood, and met exactly as you are, I would be honoured to work with you.
I work collaboratively, drawing on person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. I focus on creating a safe, compassionate space where all parts of you are welcomed. Change happens through trust, understanding, and a supportive therapeutic relationship.
I believe emotional wellbeing is closely connected to our physical experience. Stress, anxiety, and past experiences can show up as tension, fatigue, restlessness, panic, or disconnection. I gently support clients to notice their internal experience, including physical sensations, to foster awareness, regulation, and reconnection in a safe and supportive way.
Sessions are calm, collaborative, and paced to your needs. You can talk about present or past experiences, and I offer reflections and questions to help bring clarity. We focus on what is meaningful to you, always guided by your comfort and readiness.
