Trainee Counsellor Profile

Lisa

I support clients living with anxiety and other mental health challenges by offering a warm, confidential, and trusted space where you can explore your feelings with care, compassion, and at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

About Lisa

My counselling approach centres on creating a safe, trusted space where you can explore your feelings and concerns at your own pace. I aim to sit alongside you with empathy and curiosity, ensuring you feel supported, heard, and understood. I adopt an integrative approach, drawing on different therapeutic perspectives to meet individual needs. Together, we explore present experiences while gently considering how past experiences may influence your life. Reaching out for counselling is a brave step that can open the door to greater understanding, calm, and a renewed sense of self. Our work is collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgemental. I focus on helping you build emotional resilience and create meaningful, lasting change. I take a whole-person approach, recognising the deep connection between mind and body, including how bodily sensations and breath relate to mental health. I am a registered trainee counsellor in my third year of training and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I work in line with the BACP ethical framework to ensure our therapeutic relationship is grounded in safety, trust, and professionalism. Before training, I spent over 30 years in Human Resources and Management. I am a qualified Mental Health First Aider and have volunteered with the Samaritans. My own lived experience of mental health and trauma informs my work, enabling me to meet clients with honesty, respect, and genuine understanding of the courage it takes to begin this journey.

My Approach

My counselling approach is centred on creating a non-judgemental, safe, and trusted space where people can explore their feelings at their own pace. I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic perspectives to understand present experiences and the influence of the past. I meet each person with compassion, respect, and authenticity, supporting them to build understanding and resilience while reconnecting with mind and body.

Holistic & Mind–Body Perspective

I see clients as complete human beings — mind, body, and lived experience — rather than a set of symptoms. I am mindful of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, helping clients notice what’s happening in their bodies as well as minds. I encourage awareness of early experiences and how they shape current feelings, behaviours, and beliefs, fostering self-compassion, awareness, and long-term wellbeing in a supportive and empathetic space.

What a session with me is like

Sessions are safe, compassionate, and paced around you. You can explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences without pressure. I listen carefully and offer gentle guidance or reflections, always leaving control with you and adapting to what feels most supportive.

"Please don’t face things alone. I’m here to offer a calm, confidential, and supportive space where you can talk openly, be heard, and take things at a pace that feels right for you. Whatever you’re carrying, we can explore it together."
